Difference between MGMT SC 2007 Ed. and Third Ed?

After a break, I decided its time to give the GMAT a second try. My last GMAT score was a 580. I was on track to take the GMAT a second time but I ended burning myself out last December. Now its time for the uphill climb to reach my goal of a 700. I have been doing some research and noticed there is...

Letter of Intent: Does it need to include a header

I'm about to submit a letter of intent to the grad school I wish to attend. The directions state a 1500 word letter of intent. My question is, should there be a header and look like this? http://quamut.com/quamut/grant_writing/page/how_to_write_a_letter_of_intent.html Or is a simple paragraph typed ...

This time around I will not sign up for the GMAT until I am steadily scoring 700s. My only concern is that it might be well into October/November and I will be asking late in the season if I plan on applying right after I get my scores. With a week or two break from studying, I might talk with one o...

I just finished taking my first GMAT. I scored a 580 (41q,28v). Overall, I am semi-satisfied with the score. I really feel my full time job inhibited my full potential. Studying between 12am and 3am isn't the ideal studying times, but I had to make the most of it since I worked evenings. Also workin...

Are you timing yourself when you do the OG questions? I haven't been doing that, and it really shows when I take a CAT. Next time around, I am going to be timing myself on almost everything.

Here are some suggestions: When completing OG questions, time yourself. Force yourself to complete the problems within the time frame that is going to allow to complete each question on the actual GMAT. If you are going over your time limit on certain question types, it might be wise to review the f...

Three more days until I attempt to take my first GMAT! I took a short break early in the week, mostly to regroup and try to get back on track after dropping quite a bit on my last to CATs. Since the break I have been focusing on completing the quant section in the OG. I decided retake just the quant...

The question you have to ask yourself is: Am I learning? Am I feeling more and more confident about my understanding of the test and what it takes to do well?. I have been thinking things over and I have come to a conclusion that I burnt myself out a couple weeks ago. This probably is the reason wh...

Here is a list of books that seem to be popular here at beat the gmat:
CR: The Powerscore GMAT Critical Reasoning Bible
SC: Manhattan GMAT Sentence Correction

OG: Orange, Green, Purple
Kaplan GMAT 800

These are just a few guides that seem to get a lot of praise on the forum.

I finished my first GMATprep and it seems as if I am going in the wrong direction. GMATprep1: 500 (30q,29v) How is it I am going in the wrong direction? Shouldn't I be increasing my score? I have been working the OG questions the past two weeks. Working through a set of problems and spending time to...

I will be taking the GMAT on the 25th. I have been struggling with CR and SC. Yesterday I picked up the Manhattan GMAT SC book, its about 130 pages. I have no plan on devoting my next week to this book, but I decided to work it into my study schedule. I am only getting about 50% of my SC questions r...

What prep material have you been going through? If you do not have the OG11 guide, I would highly suggest starting there. How many CATs have you taken? My score jumped from the 500-600 range just from getting my timing and stamina down from the CATS. Also what are your quant and verbal scores? Stren...

8-11-08: CR: I completed the first 50 questions of the OG11 CR section. I must say I found them rather easy, and score >95% on these questions. My concern is why am I getting ~50% of my CR questions right on the CATS and getting >90% right from the OG. Is is it possible that I am not a 100% focused ...
