Honestly, the only two times I stretched or exercised prior to a test were before my last practice GMAT (my highest score) and the actual GMAT. I really believe this helped, because it got my blood flowing. I mentioned the veggies because that helped me avoid food coma during the test from a big bre...

By the way, if you don't know what critical reasoning is, there are three types of problems in the Verbal section: sentence correction, reading comprehension and critical reasoning. I didn't suggest you concentrate on Math because you are already scoring pretty high.

Dude, that's the best subject line ever.. As for improving, how is your critical reasoning? I found that VERY easy to improve on, and you can probably improve too with an hour or two of private tutoring. Who knows, that could be your 700 right there.

Most people learn better in a classroom type environment, so it's great that you will attend the seminar. Definitely nail down those concepts, and you will do well. Just keep asking questions if you don't fully understand. Best of luck to you.

Damn you GMAT!! (660)

So I took the GMAT yesterday [10/01/08] and was stunned at my score.. 660... =( Granted I only gave myself a month and a half to take this bad boy, I really thought I would fare better than a 660, especially because I felt I was smoking through the questions (smoking through = getting them right). I...

As long as you cancel them out before substituting the real number (0), then it will still work.

The answer should be C. I don't know how to use type to draw a Venn, but I can try to explain. Please keep in mind that these questions have multiple possibilities. There are: 'Coffee Only', 'Dessert Only', 'Coffee and Dessert', and 'Neither'. Also keep in mind that you don't have to solve the probl...

Algebraically, it is 1=[81][(1/9)^x], where 1 is the ending price, [81] is the starting price, (1/9) is the fraction of the starting price given x, where x is the amount of time in years. You can see the trend of how it declines after time goes on, and if you plug in for x, you will see that 2 is co...

I think this is 2.

At the start, the price is $81. After 6 months, it will be 1/3 of its price, or $27. At one year, it will be 1/3 of that, or $9. At 1.5 years, it is $3. At 2 years, it is $1.

I believe two years is the right answer.

Worked out, here is the answer. f(x)=[x^2][(1-x)^2] f(x-1)=[(1-x)^2][1-(1-x)]^2 =[(1-x)^2][0+x]^2 =[(1-x)^2][x]^2 rewritten, =[x^2][(1-x)^2] Once again, even though we substituted all (x)s with (x-1)s, we still got the same equation as before! Hope this is cool! Yay for math, haha!! ....... damn, GM...

Re: gmat prep F(x)

Thanks! You have to plug in for this one. I'll try to explain the question as clearly as I can. If f(x)=f(1-x), that means that wherever x works in an equation, you will get the same answer by substituting (x) with (x-1). This question does not give you a clear road map on what the answer will be (...

Oops! Unless a=1, haha. Just kidding.

So where is the right answer among the choices? It is not there? I mean, you HAVE to answer the question, right? Better to choose D than nothing.

Algebraically, if you think about it this way:

a+b-ab=0

a-ab=-b (just reworking the problem to isolate a)

a(1-b)=-b (still working)

a=[(-b)/(1-b)]

And since you can't have 0 be in the denominator, the only way that would occur is if b=1. Therefore, b cannot equal 1, so answer is B.

Yes, I got that same answer.

But I think it is D then, because you can just cancel out the a's.
