mehulv, your mistake is that you think 7C2 is 7P2. Any combination such that rCn = r!/(r-n)!n!. Any permutation such that rPn = r!/(r-n)! So, 7C2 is correct. The problem is that you wrote it out as a permutation. Make sure to memorize the permutation and combination statements again. To reiterate, 7...

So there are 21 questions total which are grouped into three groups (hard, intermediate, & easy) of seven questions each. You are then told to find the number of ways to pick 2 questions from EACH group (each group has seven questions total). Because order does NOT matter, this problem is a comb...

hey, I am in the same boat! I also felt like there was way too much focus on coordinate geometry, inequalities (which I HATE), and overlapping sets. I didn't get any questions on probability OR combinations. I too thought that the test was very biased in that regard. I'm wondering if other people ha...

i think you should purchase all of the Manhattan GMAT Math books. They will teach you everything in a nice, simplistist manner. if they require a certain foundational level of knowledge, i think buying a math fundamentals book or hiring a tutor would help immensely. i haven't taken a GMAT course, le...

I feel you! I feel like this is one of the hardest sections to improve. I also bought the MGMAT book on RC and found that it helped. Basically, read the first paragraph entirely, then write down the main topic of each paragraph and skim the remaining paragraphs for key words...your notes shouldn't b...

Thanks for the encouragement, I really appreciate it :0) I realized my main issue is losing interest/focus midway through the passage. Like a lot of people on here, my math skills are significantly stronger than my verbal ones. A lot of words distract me and I tend to lose concentration quickly...in...

Why am I a disaster at CR??
Especially with the MGMAT critical reasoning...my success rate is less than 50%...I've bought CR bible, I've read it and tried to apply the techniques (of which there are so many) and I'm still doing horrendously. This is very discouraging. I think I am going to give up on CR and focus on strenghthe...

If you pick E, the sentence sounds like a run-on...it doesn't end well and sounds awkward. Try reading it out loud and you'll find yourself wanting to end the sentence, but it doesn't....it ends with "..."
I don't know how else to better explain it.

well, on the bright side, you managed to bump your score up by 120 pts, which is a good start. Don't lose faith, keep going. I suggest you primarily focus on mastering the official gmat material...the official guides and the gmatprep software. I have a friend who got a 490 and kept practicing only f...

50 point improvement in 5 weeks?
Hi all, I took a GmatPrep test yesterday for the first time and got a 650 (46Q, 33V). Verbal has always been a weakness (CR primarily). I have, what I think are, modest expectations and really just wanting to hit 700. If I can go beyond it, that'll be great, if not, I'll be more than happy with a 70...

ok, this is a tough one. first of all, we know that OC=OB since they are both the radius. not only that, but OB is shared by both triangle BAO and BCO. This is important because automatically, this tells us that angle BAO = angle BCO since they both face the same side. This point is key to answer th...

(16/k, 0) Area of a triangle is bh/2. In this case, the height is k, which represents the y-axis figure, and the base is AC. Since bk/2=8 --> bk=16. To find what the base is, we divide by k. So, b=16/k. This is the length of AC which is also the points for C. B/c C is on the x-axis, we know that y=0...

Thanks for that!
An easy way to figure out percent change is the following:
(ending price-beginning price)/beginning price
or
(ending price/beginning price) - 1
11.25 is also 45/4 and 10.5 is also 21/2 or 42/4.
45/4 - 42/4 = 3/4
(3/4)/(21/2) = 1/14 which is .071 or 7.1%
