I agree. You took it twice, once when you felt poorly prepared, and again when you felt well prepared. Your scores were within 20 points of one another, which means the difference is statistically insignificant. At this point, you might be able to take it again and get 20-30 points higher. Or, you c...

Check out Manhattan GMAT books/online course. I think you can do it for around $1000. They are by far the best. If you study diligently their material for three months, there is no reason you can't get 600+ (or better, depending on your aptitude).

I don't want to discourage anyone from applying. But a 540 isn't going to cut it for applications to Harvard B-school. Apps take a lot of time, and cost money. And unless you cured cancer, or own your own company, I don't think Harvard is going to be real psyched on an application that is 160 points...

Also, for anyone considering Kaplan.....I think the experiences of those in this forum says a lot. Yes, Kaplan problems are quite difficult, and help you practice for the hardest problems on the GMAT. However......Kaplan instruction sucks. Their instructors are not well trained, and don't have to sc...

I actually think the first 5 questions on quant have a pretty dramatic impact on your score. The GMAT is designed so that no single question will tank your score. If you got the first question wrong, and proceeded to get the following 5-6 right, the impact would be minimal. However, if you get the f...

How did you feel when you were taking the test? Did you finish each section in time? It is very important to understand underlying concepts on the GMAT. The harder questions on the GMAT don't necessarily test harder concepts, they just test more of them in combination. I think either nerves or time ...

kjm - I should note that I sympathize with your feelings. I spent 7-8 minutes on the first questions in quant when I took the GMAT. It was a question I knew I could solve, and made the same mistake twice before getting the right answer. When I think back, I should have been able to solve that questi...

1/a + 1/b = 1/t This formula will give you the combined RATE of the two entities. So it if takes Bill 3hr to do a job, and Sam 4 hr, then that formula will give you the RATE when they work together (7/12 job/hr). If we are looking for the time it takes them to do 1 job, then you just mupltiply 7/12 ...

Ummm.....how is your quant score "low"? I got a Q48 on my test, which was 85%, and I don't consider my quant score to be low. While there are certainly a lot of people who take the GMAT and ace the quant (50+), I don't think anyone is going to consider your score to be low. I would say ave...

I have taken both courses. I did the Kaplan course/private tutoring before my first attempt at the GMAT. I got a 530. I then took the Manhattan course + online tutoring with Manhattan, and got a 730 on the GMAT. In my opinion, there really isn't any comparison between the two. Unfortunately, Kaplan ...
