There are lots of opinions on this, but mine is to start with answer choice C - that is, right in the middle. Let's say that you backsolve C and find that it's too big. Then you can eliminate A and B along with it. Now you only have D and E left. This way, you only have to backsolve one more time. I...

I cannot agree enough with the above advice - do not finish early unless you're scoring 99th percentile. Spend that extra time to check your work, read more carefully, or whatever. There is no point leaving time on the table. If you do finish early, you CAN move directly on to the next section (not ...

I definitely disagree with the first response. Get the master's. I have a MAcc and it's opened a lot of doors for me, even before I got my CPA license. The job market in accounting is still pretty good, even given the poor economy. RI is a pretty small market, however, you so might have trouble if y...

I'd say that you have a good shot at any school after a few years of solid work experience. Your stats are (obviously!) excellent. If you apply to all of those schools listed, I would be shocked if you were rejected by more than a couple (of course, assuming your work experience ends up as described...

When I took our free test, I scored 10 points less than I did on the actual GMAT, so I think it's pretty accurate. Plus, your score on the Princeton Review exam adds to my confidence that your "true score" is somewhere in the low 700s. As for reviewing your answers, I am most definitely no...

I've had students with lower scores get into similar schools. Whether you get in now will largely depend on the rest of your application; in other words, if you get rejected, it probably won't be because of your GMAT. The average at Haas is right around 700, so you're in good shape assuming that the...

I think the earplugs are more annoying than is having a little background noise - for me, it's very distracting to have something stuck in my ears for 4 hours. I like white noise, but I've certainly had students who thought otherwise.

I just want to emphasize the point made above: sometimes you have to guess and move on. If you don't know the answer after 3 minutes (maybe less in your case!), simply pick something and forget about it. There are HUGE penalties for leaving that many questions blank; you're much better off finishing...

You don't need codes - schools are searchable by state, if I remember correctly. As myohmy said, you pick the schools before you take the test and can't change them afterwards.

Of course, you can always order more score reports later (for $28) - but the five you get on test day are free.

I agree with myohmy. You won't see improvement simply from taking a practice test every day; you have to stop and study. Let's put it this way: if you tried to run 20 miles today and couldn't, do you think you'd be able to do it tomorrow? Probably not. You need to work up to it. Take a practice test...

No, the OG alone is not enough. As you've realized, it doesn't spend much time on the math basics before giving you questions. The biggest issue, however, is that OG explanations for problems often are not the "best" (e.g., fastest, fewest calculations, whatever) ways to solve them. You ne...

To answer your questions: 1. Yes, your quant score was good. However, the verbal score is what brought it down to 610. 2. There is always going to be a variation in your practice test scores. Think of them as a range rather than as a true score (even the actual GMAT has a margin of error of 30 point...

The solution to your problem on quant is simply: stop spending 5-8 minutes on problems. It's perfectly okay to get a few problems wrong. If you've spent 3 minutes and you're still no closer to getting the right answer, guess and move on. On SC, that's tougher. Like I said above, there's no magic bul...
