Re: PS question on GMAT PREP Practice Test 2

For some reason, this question isn't clicking for me. It must be super easy, but I'm just not seeing my error. Is x^4 + y^4 > z^4? (1) x^2 + y^2 > z^2 (2) x + y > z I understand that (2) is insufficient because x and y could be negative numbers, but why isn't (1) sufficient? This Q is anything but ...

Hi vavish, From 248 people, 156 are married. So if no other status is allowed, the remaining 92 are not married. From the 156 married people, 25% are self employed, meaning 39p. If in total there are 70p self employed, in the 92 not married people should exist 70-39=31p. So there are 31p not married...

Vavish, This is a factoring problem. You can see that the points on the beads are prime factors. So try do prime factor 147,000. That can be 7*7*3*5*2*2*2......., in fact you can forget about the numbers to the right of ',' because those will not give any '7'. Notice that the product of the first th...

Hi Ildude02,

(1) obviously SUFF

(2) x < 1/x or -x < 1/x

The first equation says that x^2<1 which the same as (1).

The second says that -x^2 < 1 <x> -1 which can be any value since x^2 is always greater than -1. So (2) alone is INSUFF

Answer A.

Vavish,

This time I'm not sure but here it goes.....

44 diagonals means 22 polygon sides.

22polygon sides * 90º = 1,980

My pick would be E.

Can you post OA? TIA

Hi all, Well, y=x+1 is a line. So y>x+1 defines a region above that line. If you draw the square region and the line you gonna see that the line intersects the Y axis in y=1 and the square top line in the point (1,2) forming a triangle of side 1. So the probability is the area of the triangle divide...

IMO C.

supports for dairy products -> dairy products more expensive -> spend a greater portion of their food budgets on dairy products

So, if there were no supports the families budget would be enough to buy other types of foods.

B for me.

Between B and C, C does not clearly reffer to what has worked well in the past.

A is almost unreadable.

D and E contain 'being' that has been banned from the GMAT world and none of them clearly states the idea.

If M and N are in the correct positions on the table I say that answer is E.

Are there any more numerical values in the table or only variables?
