John, Incredible score :) Although each person has different capabilities and what applies to one might not apply to other, I think I am in a similar situation as you were after your first attempt. I did well on all my MGMAT(680 to 730) and GMAT prep tests(680 - 760). . But I only got 650 (48Q and 3...

Answer is D. You just substitute 30 for each of the four cases. For each case get the factor by which you need to multiply the rest of the ratios. Case 1: A:B:C:D = 2:3:5:6 Assume A = 30 , the value you need to multiply 2 to get to 30 is 15. Now multiply 15 with each of the ratio values to preserve ...

The second bold statement is definitely the conclusion of the argument. This doesn't help much as all choices say this. :)

I will go with B as the first statement is just a fact that the entire argument relies on.

Stockmoose,

In probability the order is important. When asked what is the probability of getting a white marble and blue marble you have to find both

Just substitute both points in th equation given. You get two equations.
Using those you can solve for k.

Equation1: Substitute a, b for X and Y in the equation given
a = 3b -7

Equation 2: Same here
a+ 3 = 3(b+K) -7

Subtract equation1 from equation2 you get k =1

You got one half of the answer. You forgot the other part. The question did not say find the probability of first marble being white and the second marble being Blue. It jut asked for probability of picking up a white marble and a blue marble. Probability of picking one white and one blue = P(W). P(...

This question has to do with the usage of 'a number of' and 'the number of'

'a number of' is always considered plural.
'the number of' is always considered singular.

I am not sure if you are asking the parallelism question using correct examples. The sentences you wrote are more suited to discuss modifiers. There is no parallelism issue with these sentences.. The phone rings, startling .......... The above is correct usage of a sentence because startling is modi...

You can solve this by picking some numbers. Choice 1: n + m is odd Sum of two integers is odd only if one of the numbers is odd and the other is even. So you can see that is the case n is even m has to be odd and in the case where n is odd m has to be even. So 1 is not sufficient to answer if m is o...

Selling price = $80
Let's assume the cost price as $X is $X
Profit is 25%of $X = 0.25X

Selling price = Cost price + profit
Therefore 80 = X + 0.25X = 1.25X
X= $64 (Cost price)

Profit = 80 -64 = 16

Choice 1 is not clear from your post. But nevertheless since we need to solve for y and there is another variable x choice 1 is not sufficient. Choice 2 |3 - y| = 11 has two equations 3-y = 11 and 3 -y = -11 This gives two values for y -8 and 14 Hence 2 is not sufficient either Together they are not...

For this problem you need to understand congruent triangles. The sides opposite angles that are equal are also equal. Using the above theorem we know from the figure that BD = BC (opposite angles are both 2x) Now let's look at 1. AD = 6. Let's see if we can get a value for BC from this. It is given ...
