Hi Friends, I am back after some break. The question is from Princeton Bin 4- No 21. The question seem confusing at first, but after analysis, we can notice that the verb 'weights' goes with Cubby but not Brian and Andrea (More of a SC question than PS  ). So, C=A+(p/4). I made the same mistake...

Weight problem

Together, Andrea and Brian weigh p pounds; Brian weighs 10 pounds more than Andrea. Brian and Andrea's dog, Cubby, weighs p/4 pounds more than Andrea. In terms of p, What is Cubby's weight in pounds? (A) (p/2)-10 (b) (3p/4)-5 (c) (3p/2)-5 (d) (5p/4)-10 (e) (5p)-5 The OA is B. I can get the answer by...

Well Madhavi,

On the second day, as the shirt and the pant is not re-used, the possible outcomes reduces to 2 for the pants and shirts but remains 2 for the shoes and on the third day reduces to 1. Isn't it :?:

Please Help, I am a bit rusted on Prob. and Combinatorics.

That's great, the OA = C.

But Y you keep dividing by 3 and 2 on the second and third day? :?

PR Probability Problem, Pls Help

The question is: A man chooses an outfit from 3 different shirts, 2 different pairs of shoes, and 3 different pants. If he randomly selects 1 shirt, 1 pair of shoes, and 1 pair of pants each morning for 3 days, what is the probability that he wears the same pair of shoes each day, but that no other ...

Just reduce all the prime numbers to the power of 10, then add the power only, we don't mind with the exact result.

i.e. 2*3*5*7*11*17*19 = 10*21*11*17*19

this is eaual to
1..0*2.1*1.1*1.7*1.9 * 10^6

= 9....*10^6

Ans = D

I don't know whether there is a proper mathematical way to solve this problem but I did it this way. I tabulate is as follows: see attachment from the table we can see that the total repeated Nos for 700 = 30 So for 800 and 900 inclusive = 30 *3 = 90 We should less repeated Nos (3*3 = 9) = 81 Rememb...

Ans is A=12.5

let X be the point on the x-axis for point R [which has coordinates(7,0)].

Calculate area of trapezoid OQRX = 49/2

Calculate area of triangles OQP=6 and PRX=6.

Area of PQR=49/2 - 12 = 25/2.

More detailed explanation.

From properties of triangle : r=2, and angle PO with horizontal = 30 deg.
Therefore angle QO with horizontal = 60 deg.

=> from properties of triangle once more s=1 and t=root(3).

That' it.
