If a and b are positive integers, then what is the ratio of a/b to its reciprocal? Ratio of any non-zero number to its reciprocal is always 1. Here, a/b is a non-zero quantity. Reciprocal of a/b = 1/(a/b) = b/a Hence, ratio of a/b to b/a = (a/b)/(b/a) = 1 how is it 1? (a/b)/(b/a) = a^2/b,isn't it?

IMO the sentence is correct.

1) Parallelism is maintained
2) we use AND.. so its plural.. hence "have been" is correct.
