Re: Did not beat it.. A 350

I know did not do well on the math That explains part of the problem. But during my exam i was quite and calm and did not had any anxiety. I already gone threw the OG and kaplan and Princeton resources. I don't want to sound harsh, but are you sure you did well on the verbal section? The two senten...

Re: 700, barely studied, my story

today (1/22) i took the gmat here in pasadena CA for the first time. i got a 700, which was pretty much my goal. my thoughts: AWA is the easiest of the 3 sections. prior to this gmat test i had done only 2 practice AWA questions. my advice to future gmat test takers is that you don't overstudy for ...

I've always been fairly good at math, so when I did the practice questions I checked the answer key, if I got one wrong I'd try to do it again rather than skip right to the explanation. A lot of times I was able to get the answer right the second time and it was just that I read the question wrong a...

Re: Great idea

I never even thought of that!!! That is such a great suggestion. I have a very very very bad temper and blow up easily. Therefore, I would probably do pretty bad on the actual test if I kept getting distracted because the adrenaline and testosterone would mess it all up for me. But earplugs are an ...

Congratulations. I think you're the only person besides me who bought the McGraw-Hill book. ;) Well to be honest, I took it out of the library for 3 weeks rather than buying it. It came with the cd with the practice tests on it so it was all good. I got between 620 and 640 on the 6 tests, so I was ...

Just finished with a 710

Q-49 V-38 Total 710 - 93rd Percentile I started out the day by driving downtown to the testing center on snow covered roads. It took about 40 minues to get there and I at 8:40, my test was scheduled for 9:30. I parked the car and gathered my thinks when I realized I didn't have my wallet, which mean...

It's a yes or no question, and statement 1 is insuff because x could be -0.3, which would be no, or it could be 0.5, which is yes. So statement 1 on it's own is insuff to answer the yes or no question.

Answer B

St 2 is intrpreted as (l - w) only!
That's good to know, so we can assume that when they say the difference of a and b they mean a-b only.

That's interesting. Statement 1 is sufficient, but statement 2 will depend on how you interpret "difference". The official answer would tell us how they interpret it, so....., what's the OA?

Actually I originally looked at it like you did, then I thought up the equation to try and confirm that I was on the right track. :) I have a tendency to skip steps in my head, which gets me to the answer quicker, unforatunately it's not always the right one. Right now I'm running around 620-640 on ...

I agree that it's A)

Let X=Mark's original wage

Jack's original wage =X+5

Mark's new wage = (1.06)X
Jack's new wage = (1.06)(X+5) = 1.06X + 5.30

Difference between Jack's new wage and Mark's new wage = Y

Y=(1.06X + 5.30) - 1.06X
Y=$5.30
