I am in the exact same boat. Looking to do well for the third time. I can't offer you a lot of advice, but I can tell you what I am doing this time around: -- I have tried to open up my mind for ideas and tried to make it as flexible as I can to appreciate "shifts". For ex: I am politicall...

How much time should one allocate to IR for starters
I am re-starting my prep after a 580 GMAT attempt. I am currently in the "planning" mode and would like to understand from experts and fellow students how much time one should factor for the new IR section. I know what most of you will be thinking....umm..well that depends on the level, ex...

Hello to the awesome GMAT Community: I took my GMAT last week, got a 580(Q44, V 25). Actually - I was not surprised at all, I kept myself very grounded before I went for the test, and I knew it that I had to re-take the test one more time. Generally when a school says that they require minimum 2 years of work-ex - they mean it literally. Getting into a good B-School without some solid work experience is going to be extremely hard. 2 Years is actually not much of an ask, there are other schools with average 5-8 years of work-ex require...

GMATPrep repeat questions
I took GMATPrep test1 couple of times and scored ~650 both the times. I did notice that few questions were repeated from the OG; I feel my score was inflated due to this. I understand the OG questions are retired and never appear in the real GMAT test, but still asking for kinks -- is there any poss...

Unit digit problem from GMATPrep
If a = positive, and unit digit of a^2 = 9 and units digit of (a+1)^2 is 4, what is the unit digit of (a+2)^2? The explanation in GMATPrep does not make sense to me. Here is how I approached it, but not going anywhere with this solution. - For Unit digit problems, my approach is to always find out i...

Combine Ratio Problem
(This is from MGMAT CAT) The ratio of boys to girls in Class A is 3 to 4. The ratio of boys to girls in Class B is 4 to 5. If the two classes were combined, the ratio of boys to girls in the combined class would be 17 to 22. If Class A has one more boy and two more girls than class B, how many girls...

Simple Rate, Time Math question
Ref: OG12 Problem 154
Simplified form of the quetion. If Rate = 3/40 and Work = 2/5. What T(Time?) = ?
3/40 t = 2/5
=> t = 2 X 40 / (5* 3)
t = 16/3
Now if I divide 16/3, I get t = 5.33.
I picked 5.3 hours, but the correct answer is 5.2 hours. How is that possible?

I've seen these types of questions in OG. I try to solve them by logic, trying each point in the answer choice and make sure it satisfies the "how far" requirement.
An algebraic approach would be better.

IMO, The two answer choices contradict each other 1) n is multiple of 6 => n/6 is an integra 4(integra) + integer = integer YES 2) n/6 = R1 => n is not divisible by 6 (if its divisible, remainder has to be 0) NO But 1) says n is divisible by 6, and 2 says n is not divisible by 6. IMO, the correct an...
