simplejat is absolutely correct. One more example on the issue. Incorrect: " Jose's room is so messy that HIS mother calls HIM a pig" Correct : " Jose's room is so messy that HIS mother calls Jose a pig" so similarly is the above example She needs to be replaced with Evelyn.

sorry, i meant the answer is D not E. since -1 > (a-b)^2. So the answer is obvious without the choices.

The answer should be E.
1 <a> (a-b)^2
which is not a true statement. so its not possible to get an answer to the question even by using any of the option or together.

Y and X can't be negative hence the possibility of 4^0.5 being -2 is ruled out.

Answer is A.
2 * x^0.5 can only be an integer if x^0.5 is an integer.
( options A, D are only possibility now)
where as 3^0.5 * x^0.5 doesnt tell us anything thing about x^0.5 as 3^0.5 is not an integer hence the product is non integer.
This rules out D.
