I was in your shoes a few months ago, but career-wise aiming for tech/marketing. USC was tempting due to the network's reputation in CA and their marketing program is well-regarded. CMU has a great technology/product management program, and good connections in silicon valley which is more likely whe...

Additional Recommendation After Waitlist
If a school allows submitting an additional recommendation after being waitlisted, is there any thought as to whether it should come from a professional or personal reference? I know professional recommendations are generally used in the application process (which I did), but now I'm wondering wheth...

Interview in person or via phone/skype?
I was thrilled to receive an interview invite from Tepper yesterday, and I'm trying to decide where to do the interview (campus or phone/skype). Tepper's stats for accepting after interviews are not promising (only 38% still), which has me concerned about spending the time and money to fly out from ...

Thanks for the feedback! I can obtain letters from three of my former bosses, all of which would be very supportive. For reference, I have worked at the same company for my entire post-undergrad career. This is a bit specific, but maybe someone could give me some insight as to which two I should cho...

Not getting a Letter of Rec from current supervisor?
I am planning to have two of my previous supervisors write recommendations for me, but I was wondering whether not having my current supervisor write one instead was a mistake. Will this raise questions in admissions, and do I need to explain my choice?

Thanks again, Jon and Alex! My current plan is to apply to USC, UCLA, and Berkeley in round 1. I think if I get my app in to Haas in R1, that will be my best shot at a local school. My choices for round 2 are still somewhat undecided, though I am now researching the schools you mentioned and some ot...

I thought that most schools asked for letters without specific criteria for the content so that your recommenders would only have to write one letter. Or at some schools, questions were posed as guidelines, but did not necessarily require direct answers. Is this not the case? It seems like quite a b...

Thanks very much for your reply, Alex, and I appreciate your candor. I do realize that some of these top schools may be a stretch for me... I'm trying to gauge how much of a stretch. I don't want to waste my time with impossible applications, although I've been advised to approach an MBA with a &quo...

Data sufficiency - greater/less than questions & approac
Just took my second official GMAT practice test, scored a 49Q. I missed a few questions with the similar greater than/less than theme. How would you approach & solve the data sufficiency problems below? 1. If n and p are integers, is p > 0? i) n + 1 > 0 ii) np > 0 2. Are positive integers p and ...

Thanks, that's a very helpful explanation. I figured that the two official practice tests would be basically the same as a the actual exam, but I was surprised that my experience was so different from some of my practice exams through unofficial test prep sources. On one unofficial practice test, I ...

Official GMAT practice test quantitative scoring question
I took my first official GMAT practice test from mba.com today. I've taken a number of other GMAT prep tests from various sources and generally score around 45 on the quantitative section. Today I felt like I completely bombed the quantitative section. When I finished, it certainly seemed like it......
