There have been examples of proofs that Statement 1 is insufficient (which I think it is). For example someone gave the example of n = 18. So the prime factors of 18 are 2 and 3 right. But 2 squared is NOT a divisor of 18! Does this not disqualify 18 from consideration as a possible n? The same goes...

This question is very clear as worded and the answer is A ie 50 x 12500---this would be a 100 level question :) Introducing other facts changes it and turns it perhaps into the question that the author intended to ask in the first place. As the question is worded, you can reasonably assume that the...

Have had 3 month studying. I am retaking after bombing my first attempt (600) ---even lower than I had gotten on my very first GMAT prep (640 WITH NO STUDYING WHATSOEVER). Made two ciritcal errors in reptrospect. 1) A complete lack of time management which led me to guess from #20 onwards on my quan...

Exam day Warm-Up

I have just noticed a startling trend with my prep exams. I tend to warm up as the exam proceeds. i.e. I get sharper with each question. The implication is that if I do not do a few medium to challenging problems right before I attempt a test it takes me until perhaps 5th or so question to dust out ...

I think this is a poorly worded problem any way you look at it. Ambiguous and open to interpretation. In my opinion, the guy must have died after the train "crossed him" (what is that supposed to mean?--How does one get crossed by a train and in the same vein; how does a train cross a plat...

The given statement implies x = a-b OR x = -(a-b) (which is equivalent to x = b-a). This is a ten second problem if you know this method because you know that one solution is NOT enough. Since the choices give only one solution each so the answer MUST be C or E. C is the answer because 1 and 2 provi...

Thank you all for the encouragement. I will follow the 20/20/15/15 pattern as suggested. It just seems to make sense. Btw on a side note I love studying for the GMAT for some odd reason. I love the sense of acomplishment and I feel more and more like I spent the night at a Holiday Inn with each pass...

When stumped do not let your ego take over.

Took test and scored a measly 600 :( . The lesson I learned was: LEAVE YOUR EGO AT THE DOOR. I dug my heels in on question #10 in quant (an obvious 700 level type question---I felt I had killed the test up to that point) and ended guessing on the last 20 questions---17 min left at #15. I still muste...

This question seems pretty straightforward. But then again I am a novice. I do not think how many days they were expected to work in the begining matters. What matters is whether they were given an equal amount at the begining and whether they worked for the same daily amount or not in the end. The ...

I am not really seeing how this can be done without a number picking strategy. It seems to me whether you write them down or not you will at least imagine some numbers. Is there something wrong with a number picking strategy? Please let me know if there is because I am trying to improve my quant sco...

The answer still appears to be D even with the original way it was posted. Because even if you set it up you will still have to rely on the prime factorization of 35^2 minus 1 to derive your answer.

1) Determine the cost of each modem = d/1000 2) Determine selling price of each modem = d/1000 * 125% or d/1000 * 125/100 3) Check to see if this is an answer choice ---if not simplify further (as you need to do in this case) 4) After simplifying you get d/800 which is A Step three ---I am not sure ...

GMAT right angle assumption----Support beams

When you get a problem asking you to solve a triangle problem and the question is on triangles resulting from a support beam do you assume that the angle formed by the base of the support beam is a right angle? I am of the firm belief that you NEVER assume anything with the GMAT. However, I have com...

The problem is that answer C is in Ebonics! e.g. He be doin this, she be doin that-. That be signed just sounds unnatural. I dont know what explanation I can give except for that.(sorry)- Remember when you dont have a clue just trust your ear---that works most of the time for me. After thinking abou...
