Since t^2-kt-48is divisible by (t-8), it means that t-8 is a factor of the equation. Also we know that 8x6=48. Now we can simplify the equation and say that the other factor is (t+6).
hence, t^2-kt-48 = (t-8)(t+6).
By solving the equation, we get k=2.
