Not sure what happened? actual GMAT vs ManhattanGMAT verbal

Took the gmat over the weekend and I am preplexed, confused and dazed. Not sure what happened and how I ended up in the 20th percentile on verbal. On my practice exams (gmat prep and manhattan gmat cat exams), my scored ranged between 50-70%ile; and my quant ranged from 30-45%. However, on my actual...

I saw this explanation at another forum:

Answer is C i.e. 5 and 10 because the sum of all the other sides is 14 and one side can never be greater than sum of other sides

Simple enough!!

Questions with " Solve x in terms of Y"

In my gmat prep, I noticed I was getting a lot of "solve x in terms of Y" questions.. I could handle a couple of them, but I started to wonder if I am getting those right because I kept getting them one after the other. (I didn't finish the test, so I wouldn't know ifI got them right or wr...

Joe, This process indeed is a humbling one. Learning about yourself, what works, and what doesn't comes with practice. I'm glad you took the road of self-discovery! A few pointers: 1. do not practice with a calculator, since you are not allowed one on the gmat! 2. Mid 500's is achievable, if you are...

I agree with IJR. If this is strategy works for you, then fine. But for some it doesn't. In my practice test, I panicked and started guessing in order to make up for my lost time. So, I started practicing with shorter sets ( 10-20questions, 2 min/ quant question, 1.5 min/SC question) and that has he...

Thank you, essaysnark.

It is amazing to see how GMAC can ask about some very easy concepts in a very tough way. you are right, it definitely is giving me a dry run of things to come in b-school. It'll be tough, but as you said - it'll be worth it.

HI mustbeatgmat007 Looking at the date ranges of your mgmat and gmat prep exams, it seems you did not give enough time to review and analyze why you got the questions wrong. Prior to taking the prep exams, you need to ask yourself, why do you think you will better this time? This question has helped...

Ankur,

I would say focus on Verbal and look at the questions that you are getting wrong very deeply. Analyze why each answer choice is wrong and what makes the right one- right.

Identify your weak points in verbal and focus there.
