I got a 650 in the Kaplan-800 practice GMAT CAT test.

good so the OA has taken, as I expected, the formal approach and suggested replacement of us with our - I did not have the answer choices-yet I explained the understood meaning the previous post :) Now gerunds can really act as the nouns and may be called by test writers, in half remembered analysi...

Expired Passport - GMAT entry?

Hi, My passport has expired, I have applied for a new one, but if the new passport does not reach me till the test date, can I go with an expired passport. Think of it logically, I am using it as an identity proof not to travel abroad right now. Even they expired one should hold good as an identity ...

Thanks... I read a few old posts and this is what i found: Paper: It is not normal A4 paper, but rather laminated A4 sheets (I think 6 sheets in a pad) Pen: It is more like an OHP marker not a normal ball/roller pen used on paper. Is this the same all over the world at GMAT test centers? I am partic...

Schools consider the latest GMAT score or the best ever

I haven't taken the GMAT yet, but consider the situation that a candidate scores as follows: First GMAT score: 700 Second GMAT score: 640 (after 45days) After the GMAT, he opted to send both scores to a business school S. He has not yet sent the application for admission to school S. Questions: - Wh...

The Permitted and the not permitted - during the test?

Few questions: a. How many sheets of rough paper are we given - is it per section, or one booklet for the full test. b. Does the amount of paper permit comfortable writing, or do we have to be parsimonious on the rough space. c. What happens if I finish the notepad they provided? Can I get another o...

Sentence from a BBC Article

Hi, Reading an article on the BBC website, the following sentence caught my attention PQR fears the future will not bode well for former dancing girls, some of whom have been forced into XYZ because hardliners objected to them performing relatively innocuous dances in public. Now I know this sentenc...

3) The difficulty on the GMAT has to "move" and evolve - particularly with the advent of sites like Beat The GMAT (tip of the hat to Eric, David, and Bea), what is "hard" becomes easier fairly quickly nowadays...people get a sense of what they need to study for. 6 years ago, Per...

Here's the solution I have: This question is about gerunds and verb tense. In this sentence, “attending and “receiving are gerunds, and take possessive nouns and pronouns, not direct objects. Correct: Our attending the conference is dependent on our pilot’s receiving clearance to take of...

Only possessive noun in the sentence

Consider the sentence: Once you give the steering wheel to him, Antony's natural driving skills take over. There is no 'Antony' in the sentence... So shouldn't it be more like: Once you give the steering wheel to Antony, his natural driving skills take over. I think this is correct. But what about t...

Hmm... that makes sense! (an incorrect sentence from the SC point of view - what does 'that' refer to) :) Well, I mean both the points you mentioned - about the GMAT test, and about the reference material. Thanks. P.S. Really baffled by this SC answer!

Hi, I'm really confused with the answer to this SC question:

"Us attending the conference is dependent on our pilot receiving clearance to take off"

This is a practice question I found, no choices given. Give it your best shot, I'll surprize you with the answer tomorrow.

I agree. I remember I finished the section on CR from the OG Verbal Review, then moved to Kaplan 800 book for CR. I was surprised to see that my accuracy of about 80 to 90 percent on the OG Verbal, went down drastically on the Kaplan. It wasn't the difficulty level that baffaled me, but more likely ...

Is my preparation complete without the OG

Hi,
I've been studying from Kaplan books, along with the Official Guide Verbal Review.
But the big question on my mind is - despite having these books, do I still need the Official Guide to complete my preparation?

Hi, I took a mock gmat yesterday, keeping it as close to exam conditions as possible. It was the first GMAT CAT from the Kaplan GMAT-800 CD (which comes with the book) - I scored a 600. Analysis: 1. It was my first full length mock test. 2. Wrote the AWA too. 3. I finished the entire math test in 7...
