More than required recommender
I have already finalized my standard recommenders (3 for HBS, 2 for Wharton). I have two other really good contacts (senior executive level) that can provide some good recommendation for me. One of them offered to write up a paragraph or two about my leadership skills which I think will help my appl...

The first time I took GMAT, I almost had a similar feeling. I didn't collapse or anything but my head was spinning like crazy. Same reason: I finished my Quant 6 minutes early and felt that none of the questions were challenging. This thought came coming to me until half way through the verbal. That...

In my experience, Manhattan Quant are quality material, just not accurate. I scored 49 on my real test Quant yet I never scored over 45 in Manhattan Quant. Primarily, because since most of the questions on Manhattan Quant are 600 and 700 level, you need more time to do them. I would always run out o...

Ofcourse each person's case is different but in general, I recommend taking the test before the change for one reason: scope of material to practice/study. The test right now is already loaded. There are many topics to review and many questions to practice. Adding a new section will only add to the ...

Achieve_dream I wasn't sure if anybody would read the whole post hence didn't put my pointer on the AWA. I guess the biggest suggestion I can give on AWA is to focus on what is being asked. Sounds simple, but not many people abide by this rule. GMAT is a really well drafted Computer Adaptive test th...

730: I JOINED GMAT
Instead of beating the GMAT, I decided to join it (if you can't beat it..join it). I am coming back from my test and happy to report I scored 730 (Q49, V42). Background: Non native (from Nepal) Engineer, been in the US for last 15 years. I gave the first test on December 8th, 2011 and scored 640 (Q3...

Your response makes sense. As soon as you mentioned the number line, the lightbulb turned on.
Thanks

If |X|<3, is X<3?
My interpretation of this is X could be either smaller than 3 or greater than -3 and hence INSUFFICIENT:
X<3
or -X<3 => X>-3
Since the keyword here is OR, not AND, I thought this is insufficient. X>-3 means X could have any value smaller or greater than 3.

Thanks Guha As I said, Sackman's note might have said it. I always knew 1 is a factor of everything but only multiple of itself but one of the Sackman's answer led me to think that wasn't right. However, in Sackman's defense, his answer wasn't necessarily saying 1 IS the multiple of 4 or 5; I will t...

Is 1 a multiple of every number?
I know 1 is a factor of every number, but is 1 also a multiple of every number? Jeff Sackman's note on one of the answer seem to suggest so.
In other words, 1, 6 and 12 are the three lowest multiples of 6?

I recently got 6/6 in my AWA.
I'd give your essay 6 with +/- 1 margin.
The most helpful advice I could give is to read the AWA guidelines completely. You are suppose to counter premise, point out assumptions etc etc. Also, try to give specific examples (which you have done here).

I have used Magoosh and they are not bad at all. However, if you are nearing your test date, then I recommend doing the OG questions. Since I had already done OG 12, I did last 25 questions of each section on OG. OG will set your mind in the right direction as to what to expect in the test. My GMAT ...

Knocked out by GMAT!!
I just took GMAT and got total KO'ed! I thought you might want perspective from somebody who scored lowly on the test so that you don't repeat the mistakes. 640: 39 Quant, 38 Verbal. I scored 680 and 710 on my practice tests. To start, I was already stressed with parking situation. I know I should h...

Quick question on AWA list
Ok, don’t laugh but I am taking GMAT in 8 days and I have not looked at AWA section at all..until today. So, from one of the Eric’s older post (2006) I found that GMAT releases the list of essays in its website. My question is whether they ask the essay question from that list? I found it to be ...
