That is a great reply fitzgerald23 but I am not convinced...If I can consistently score between 20-30 (which is actually a huge margin) in preps...I see no reason for a 17...and how do you explain the 25 odd SC's that I got... And what do you mean here "It does not seem to be anywhere near as f...

fitzgerald23 : Nothing against you, but I know that you got a wonderful score in your GMAT so you want to talk of everything good about the GMAT. If I had got my desired score I too would writing against the OP... But can you please explain how one could get 25 SC's and that too all real tough ones...

I doubt if this idea will even take off but here is my vote. As said earlier I got a pathethic 17. Even in state of sleep I have got scores between 25-30, so this is surely not my score. I have tried MGMAT, GMAT prep, Knewton, Kaplan. Infact recently I had become more confident on Verbal than on Qua...

Totally agree with you Night Reader. Wonder if something has got to do with the date. Even I wrote my test on 7th April 2011 and got a pathetic 17 in Verbal. Quant (43) on the other side felt so cheap I wondering if did the questions right. I wish quant would have been tough and verbal be easy inste...

Does computing median require set to be ordered?

Suppose we have a set {8, -1, 3, 6, 2 } do we need to order the set before computing the median, this may be silly but I ask this specifically because here http://www.beatthegmat.com/is-the-range ... 57095.html I learnt that range does not require a set be ordered.

Quadrant of the coordinate plane(Knewton Prep)

In which quadrant of the coordinate plane does point (w, z) lie, if wz ≠ 0?

1.(z, w) is in quadrant III.
2.(-w, z) is in quadrant IV

Actually I still don't get this...so range is always the difference between the largest and the smallest numbers no matter any order...but who has told us that 'w' is the largest number and 'z' is the smallest number? I dont see how this was assumed...

Valve Problem (Knewton Prep)

An adjustable intake valve fills the first 12 gallons of a 24-gallon tank at a rate of 28 gallons per minute. What average rate, in gallons per minute, must the valve allow while filling the remaining 12 gallons in order to have an average rate of 40 gallons per minute for filling the whole tank? (A...

I don't get this.

If we go by the contrapositive logic as mentioned in Powerscore CR then we have

Credit Card -> More tip

Contrapositive:

Less Tip -> No Credit Card

but B says

Less Tip -> Credit Card

This is Mistaken Reversal and is deemed to be wrong according to Powerscore CR.

Yes this from Knewton. I am not happy with B and still consider that the question is wrongly framed, because B talks of only a part of the given premise. A on the other hand seems to cover more of the information given in the premise.
