Grockit - CR

Critic: Since returning to her home country after spending years abroad, the work of novelist Karen Bateman has lost its exotic edge and vibrant characters. Her books now deal with issues disappointingly familiar to her readership in this country. One almost wishes she would leave again in order to recapture the spark of her earlier work.

A. The critic's opinion is shared by most of Bateman's readers
B. Bateman's novels were at least partly autobiographically inspired
C. Bateman's home country is less exotic in its population and customs
D. There is little literary value in Bateman's work set in her own country
E. All of Bateman's earlier novels were set in foreign and exotic countries

OA B

This looks like an inference question (Correct me if I am wrong)

A. Incorrect. there is no evidence in this regard
B. Incorrect. there is no evidence in this regard
C. Incorrect. This can't be inferred from the information given.
D. Correct. It is given that Bateman's work is now disappointingly familiar to her readership now. Thus her work is now set in her own country, for which she is being criticized. Thus it has no literary value.
E. Incorrect. No evidence given in this regard.

poor;y written i think: the passage suggest that the work of novelist Karen Bateman is returning to her home??

Anyway, I tried this question before on grockit and got it wrong. Both the OA and OE given, however, were not very convincing in my opinion. Waiting for other contributions.
