Hello GMATeers,
I had first given GMAT on 22nd Nov 2011 and got 590 (V-25, Q-46) so decided to give it again but somehow things got delayed and finally gave it today and got 640 (V-29, Q-48) , quite less than my dream score of above 700. For Verbal everything was going fine (was pretty sure of the first 30 Verbal answers marked today , 4-5 questions can be wrong at max. ) except time because I realised that 10 questions were remaining when 6 minutes were left and those 10 questions included RC questions as well. Since it is said that penalty for not completing the test is much more than giving wrong answers, I ended up guessing the questions 32-36 as didn't have much time to read RC in detail. Also, couldn't give much attention to remaining CR/SC questions and ending up chosing the options very quickly. Not sure if this could be cause of very less verbal score and a overall score of 640. For this time's prepration focused mainly on OG12 and Princeton and other resources mentioned below. Had done Kaplan for Nov 2011 exam but didn't touch it this time. Have been giving GMAT Prep Tests (old and new) and used to get scores between 660,680,690, 710.
1. OG12
2. Manhatten SC
3. GMATPrep questions
4. e-GMAT Free Trial
5. GMATPrep Tests
6. Veritas Free Test
7. BTG Articles and Forums
8. Princeton
Can you please share your thoughts what needs to be done to achieve my dream score of over 700 ? What best we can do to get an idea of how our prepration is going before giving the exam. I plan to take next month's date for exam again and hope to increase score.
Can anyone please tell if we get Verbal 28 and Quant 48, how many questions would have been incorrect ?
Scored 640 (V-29, Q-48) - Need advice and tips for 700+

I am not an expert by any standards, still will give you my two cents. Get your timing in SC down to 1 min, unless you can do this the timing will suffer. You would need to practice 100s of SC problems to get to that level. Buy a MGMAT book, you will have access to 6 MGMAT tests. Give full tests, all 4 sections and review. Try to work your quant up to 50. You should be all set for 700.

I am in the VERY SIMILAR situation 640(V-28,Q-49), can someone please help with what practice material to buy for verbal??? I have a lot of practice material for both Quant and Verbal but no explanations for the verbal sections and aimlessly doing RC's CR's and SC's without knowing a way to figure out where m i going wrong it just seem like a never ending road to reach success (at gmat)
I enrolled for classes(physical) so i am aware of the theory and rules but i just dont seem to apply it well to the questions... unfortunately, the verbal faculty where i was taking classes could spare time for doubts only on the weekdays as the faculties are busy taking regular batches through 10am to 8 pm.. I could catch up on quant by googling quant questions and as most questions (i had difficulty with) of the practise material that i used were already discussed on one or the other forum.. and for for rest i would post here. this process made my life a lot easier as i dint have to live with doubts and they were resolved instantly.. but its not the same while doing the verbal (espicially RCs).... my speed is slow and i have NO IDEA what I did on my verbal.. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME, what should i do??
if anyone knows of any worthy n good private tutors(verbal) in Delhi, India please tell me

There seems to be a correlation with people describing frustrating exam results and the number of exams taken. Basically, my advice would be to spend more time reviewing exams and questions than actually taking them. Your learning takes place in review...
