Any explanation why E is right and he other choices are wrong ?

This question appears to be a classic comparison problem where apples(John Wilkins) are compared with oranges(rags-to-riches story) and that explains the Exclusion of A, C and D options.

E sounds better but don't know exactly why B is wrong. Anybody else why E and not B is correct?

The rising of is awkward and also it is an event in the past
Please do not post answer along with the Question you post/ask

A - apple/oranges
B, C - 'rising' is awk
D - ambigous pronoun 'this'

E - correct

IMO E

B is wrong as it compares a verb 'rising' to a noun 'story'
