Retook the GMAT (530)

by GMAT680 » Fri Jun 25, 2010 4:36 pm
Dear All,

Here is an update of my status. I took the GMAT last month and pulled a shocking 480 (Q42 and V15). I retook it today and another disappointing result. 530(Q45, V19). I didn't prepare for the quant at all. Is GMAT telling me my English is too poor to enroll in BSchool despite I have been in US for 5 years and already have a computer science graduate degree? well I am applying to the school of my choice anyway and restart the gmat if I am not accepted.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Beat the GMAT community.

I feel your pain. I prepared verbal for two months, got the same sh**y score I got for the first one. The moment I saw the score, I really want to scream WHY WHY?!

GMAC is telling you that your english comprehension and reasoning skills are not good enough for b school. Your b school will tell you the same. Your verbal score should be at least 30. The bschool is not gonna say "oh, this dude has been in the states for 5 years is a CS graduate, so the test must be lying.. this dude must be a genius" Get real dude, study hard, take practice tests and gauge your potential. And most importantly, don't expect your score to jump up just because of where you have been or what degree you have.

Asian Institute of Management, Philipines is good B school . It ask for 600 + and Your quant score can be improved very easily if you put bit effort as you can see you scored 45 even wen u haven't put yr actual self a bit.

I strongly believe that

Math -> 50

and

Verbal -> 23

shud n't be a problem for You. Your score would be 620 with 1 month sincere effort.

Mate , at this score , u can expect admission into some decent college... eg.

AIM, Bucconi (Itali) , Some chinese colleges , japan international university and even Inperial (London) and many more...

n these are really good college. N You wont regret about that.

I have lots of info abt that.... jus mail me if u r interested.. i will send info....

last thing i want to say...

do not loose hope.... world is big enough to accomodate all of us...!
