Parallelism

by amp0201 » Wed May 02, 2012 1:08 pm
A result of the recent election is realizing that in this increasingly urban area, there is now more worry about crime than health care.

1. realizing that in this increasingly urban area, there is now more worry about crime
2. the realization that in this increasingly urban area, they now worry more about crime
3. the realization that in this increasingly urban area, voters now worry more about crime
4. a realizing that in this increasingly urban area, there is now more concern about crime
5. the realization that in this increasingly urban area, concerns about crime are greater
OA is 3. Can someone explain why it can't be 5? [/spolier]
Yes it is 3.
5 is wrong because of parallel construct.
"concerns about crime are greater than health care"- this parallel construct wrongly compares 'concerns' (about crime) with 'health care'. It would have been like this: "concerns about crime are greater than that of health care"
I hope I am clear.
