Schools with rolling admissions

by papgust » Mon Mar 01, 2010 12:51 am
Hey guyz,

Although i'm a frequent user in BTG, this is my first post under MBA Admission Process. :)

I came across an article that applying to schools with rolling admissions has a slight edge over schools with round admissions. One is chances of getting admitted into the schools is higher in schools with rolling admissions because, in round admissions your application will be compared with all other applications and only then a final call is taken over the application.

I'm looking for the schools that have rolling admissions. I googled and found that UCLA and McCombs have rolling admissions. Any other American or European b-school with rolling admissions?

UCLA doesn't have rolling admissions. I think I've seen some old articles that say they used to, but I applied this year and there was no mention of rolling admissions. They have three rounds.

I wouldn't go as far as saying "chances of getting admitted into the schools is higher in schools with rolling admissions". For schools that have rolling admission, many schools tend to use their previous applicant pool as a bench mark to value applications. Probably the only advantage of applying to schools with rolling admissions is that if you apply early, and your chances of getting a response is pretty high provided they like you :)

On the other hand many schools which have a round applications might receive less number of application in certain rounds and your chances might be higher with them. But this is merely a speculation based on arbitrary information.

I don't have a list but if you go thro' business week's bschool rankings and profile section you will be able to short list schools with a rolling admission process.
