GMATPrep Test-Preparation Software versions

by Davy03 » Fri Nov 28, 2008 2:50 am
Hi! :)

I have been reading this forum for a few months and I finally decided to register this morning.

Does anyone here know if a new version of the GMATPrep Test-Preparation Software will be released next year?

I have always wondered for how long the current version has been the one available for download on mba.com. Has anyone here ever used a different version from the current one?

I took the GMAT yesterday and got 680 (Q:48/V:35). I was neither happy nor disappointed, but it was obviously not satisfying. Not because of the score, but because I feel that I have not mastered the GMAT at all. I want to feel the excitement of doing really well and of reaching the hardest questions (especially in the quantitative section!). I also think I can score a lot higher because I went through a few funny problems during the test (the employee of the test center took too much time to let me in after the first break, so I lost 1 minute for the quantitative section ; and I really had to go to the bathroom during the verbal section, that made me lost 2 minutes  ). However I remained calm and collected but these problems obviously cost me a few points. (Here is a piece of advice for everyone: do not drink at all before or during the test!)

Thus, I am planning to retake the test next year, and it would be nice to be able to train with a new version of the GMATPrep Test-Preparation Software, because it is obviously one of the best tool to get prepared. I could not find any information on this anywhere.

Any advice from any non-native English speakers (I am french) to improve my verbal score would also be appreciated. The sentence correction questions are the hardest of the test in my opinion, especially for a non-native English speaker, because I am not able to "feel" what answer could be right.

Thanks in advance :)

Do you really want to do the GMAT again? My thinking is you have more to lose if you give it again. 680-700 score are pretty tough to improve on.

I mean if you had scored like 620 or 580 you should have definitely go on and write. To me 680 is a decent score, definitely not as classy as a 700+ score would sound...but its up there as a top notch score.

Why not apply for a B-school straightaway?

Because I am not planning to apply this year anyway. I am just preparing my application, I am not ready yet. I am planning to apply in 2013 or 2014. (GMAT scores are valid for five years) I have a long term project and the MBA is just one the many steps.

And yes, I really want to do the GMAT again! I scored 760 and 710 on the GMAT Prep pratice tests, so I know I can do better than 680.

Besides, GMAT is a lot of fun! :D
