Hi

Please evaluate my profile. I'm looking basically for one year(or close) mba programmes so my b-school choices are pretty much restricted to Europe and a few others.

GMAT
Date taken: October 2009
Total: 690 (88%)
Verbal: 35(73%)
Quant: 48(83%)
AWA: 5.5/6(76%)
Age : 26/Indian/IT

Education:

Bachelor of Engineering (Comp. Sc.) (2002-2006)
GPA: 2.5/4 (Low , I know!)

Work experience: Total until Dec 09: 3.25 years, by Fall 2010: 4 years
Current Location: UK
Description:
I've been working in a technology consulting firm since 2006. Starting off as a developer I've had quite rapid career progression and was promoted into a project lead role within a year of joining.

Since the last 2 years (Dec 2007), I've been working in the UK for an Insurance client and have extensive international exposure. My role involves Delivery management and technical consultancy of IT projects leading a team of 12 . Activities typically involve managing the entire software delivery lifecycle with activities such as project planning, solution design, resource management, stakeholder management, quality assurance and issue mitigation.
I also have very good recommendations from my manager and clients.

Extra curriculars: Have managed and hosted various corporate and social events, was part of a very active dramatics club in university , have performed as a musician (guitar) and also played league cricket for a local english club.

My interest post MBA is mainly in management consulting .
These are the schools at which I've applied to or am in the process of applying to:

1. LBS
2. ISB
3. Said
4. Judge
5. INSEAD
6. HEC

Does my profile seem competitive enough for these schools taking into account the low GPA and not so great GMAT? Are there any other schools that I should be looking at as well?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance!

Actually, your GMAT score is not bad. However, you are correct about your GPA being low. Since you have a relatively strong GMAT score and great work experience you should focus on creating a strong application packet (LORs, essays, interviews) and also point out any unique characteristics you bring to an MBA class. Finally, it would help if you have a reasonable (and honest) explanation for you low GPA ie. family illness, working while in school, etc. If you have low grades in quant classes then you might want to take a few before applying to show that you have the ability to do well in them.

Thanks for your response. My first 2 years in uni were pretty average. However, there was a constant increase in grades in the last 4 semesters of my course with a 3.0 in the final sem, which is what I'm trying to highlight in my applications as well..

Can you suggest any other schools which I should be looking at for one year MBA? preferably those with a strong consulting focus?
