emba organizational chart requirement

by resilient » Tue Feb 19, 2008 9:10 pm
In my application, I am asked for an organizational chart of my company. I am curious as to why they are asking for this and what is it that they are looking for? Are there any do's and dont's in this..

Are exact titles of the personel needed?

thanks

Dear Engin:

I can only guess as to why an organizational chart has been requested as that is not a typical question. I would only include the titles of positions, not the names of the people in the positions. Perhaps they want an idea of where you fit in the organziation currently? If you are concerned, I suggest contacting the admissions office for clarification as to what is expected.

is there a reason why not to put the names on the org chart?

Dear Engin:

The main reason is for confidentiality of the folks in those jobs. They are not applying to school; you are. So the admissions committee is probably looking for an idea of how the organization is structured and your place in it. Titles should suffice for that purpose.
