Profile Evaluation Needed

by cgt2k1 » Sun Dec 22, 2013 3:15 am
Hi

I wanted to request a profile evaluation and the choice of schools that I could go to.My main aim is to find out schools which offer the best employment opportunities with the profile I have

GMAT - 580 (was absolutely devastated by this )
Under Grad - Mumbai University ,India GPA 3.6
Grad - USC (Computer Science) , GPA - 3.7
Extra Curricular: Involved in teaching students aged 3-5 years at a school in Broklyn,NY.Involved in distributing food in NYK to the needy.

Work Exp : 10 years (2 years with a manufacturing company in California.Work dealt maintaining the IT operations of the company)
8 years (3 major investment banks on wall street.Work involved software development, software support, leading development teams and managing the global infrastructure).I am currently an infrastructure manager working in New York.

Aim of attending a business school: Gain more knowledge in finance and management and shift to more business related tasks. Also want to switch jobs and take on more jobs related financial analysis, treasury operations ,corporate finance.I have tried to go the CFA route but it seemed to difficult without solid fundamental knowledge in finance.

I was thinking of attending some schools part time ,online or going for an EMBA.
Choice of school :
Rutgers (Flex MBA)
Arizona Online MBA
Kelley Direct Online MBA
UNC Kenan Flagler Online MBA

I wanted to know what is the scope of part time MBA's at second tier universities
Do these universities really boost your career or do you simply gain some more knowledge and are stuck with your job
What are the employment statistics for part time MBA students who switch jobs.Do the career centers really market part time and EMBA students as well as full time students.
Is it really true that only a full time MBA can really provide the connections and boost to your career.

You can plan for a part-time of EMBA if you wish to get into an executive role in your company and all your target schools are achievable. You can opt for better programs if you can write GMAT again and score over 650.If you wish to switch jobs and get into the financial sector, I suggest you opt for a full time MBA rather than a part-time MBA. You have solid experience but your GMAT score and your age might be working against you for a full-time MBA. But, they can be tackled easily if you have a strong story for an MBA. Good luck!
