Profile evaluation for UK schools

by daylebo5 » Fri Aug 07, 2009 11:13 pm
Age: 26 (at start of MBA – Sept 2010)

Academics:
Xth - 78.4 %
XIIth – 73.5 %
BSc (IT) – 68.19 %
Masters Program in IT – 3.15/4 GPA

GMAT: 700 (Q45, V41), AWA 5.0

Work Experience:
- Currently 3.5 years (4+ at start of MBA) consulting experience in Governance Risk and Compliance Domain
- Working within the Consulting Division of one of India’s largest IT services company
- Been promoted from Associate Consultant to Consultant and then to Senior Consultant over period of three years
- Exposure to multiple sectors like financial services, energy, logistics, real estate etc
- 4 Month internship as an analyst/trainee in a consulting firm during Masters

International Exposure:
- Mostly executed consulting engagements across UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi), Bahrain (Manama), India (Delhi, Mumbai) and most recently Germany (Dusseldorf)
- Thus exposure to different styles of working and wealth of different cultures

Leadership Positions:
- Project Manager (Managed consulting engagements involving around 2-3 consultants along with larger client implementation teams)
- Co-event Organizer (For a national level seminar during Masters)
- Logistics Incharge (Incharge of managing Logistics for most seminars during Masters)
- Nominated and attended ‘Customer Leadership Interface Program’

Extra Curricular:

- Represented college and won multiple inter-college football tournaments
- Involved in College admissions during graduation

Awards and Recognition:
- Awarded Prodigy Award for best New Recruit
- Awarded Best Team Award for excellent execution of an engagement

Other Professional Certifications:
- Certified Prince 2 Practitioner (Project Management Methodology)
- BS25999 Lead Auditor (Business Continuity Management Framework)
- Certified Information System Security Professional - CISSP (Information Security Related)

College Selection(Still in process of researching college 'fit' for me):
Reach: Oxford, Cambridge
Match: Manchester, Cranfield, Lancaster, Cass
Backup: Warwick, Imperial (Not sure if these backup as yet)

MBA Expectations:
- Overall a general MBA with some focus/electives in consulting
- Preferably a 12 months course in UK (18 months in case of MBS) starting Fall 2010
- Plan to move up the consulting ‘value-chain’ i.e. into management consulting (preferably strategy)

Finally a few questions –
1. Could you’ll please comment on my college choices i.e. are they too high, too low or should I consider some others and what is the possibility of getting into them with my profile?
2. How realistic are my chances at Oxford or Cambridge?
3. My academics are on the low side so I hope the GMAT should be able to cover that?
4. Anything else I need to stress on in the application or should I leave out anything?
5. Any weak links or red flags you can identify in the profile?

Thanks for your time.. Cheers !!
