I am absolutely amazed at the wealth of information this forum has for aspirants of MBA trying to score high on the GMAT. I would just like to hear from any of you about my prospects of getting into top 10 b-schools like Harvard or Wharton. I have about 8 years of industry experience with almost 3-4 years on management responsibilities. The only glitch (personal opinion) is that I will be 30 years of age by the time I apply in Oct 2009. I would love to hear comments from the distinguished audience of this forum relating to my prospects of getting into one of top 10 b-schools. Even though I have already noticed that many schools definitely do not impose age restrictions on applicants and that the mean/median age is listed anywhere from 25-27, I would appreciate your feedback on this.
Thank you and this website is full of TREASURE.
Is 30 too old for MBA in the top 10 b-schools?

Hi,
Gone through your query. It seems interesting to see ur profile details.
I would appreciate the decision you r making after having such a fantastic figure of Experience. You are willing to learn more n that is what B schools want(I am talking about Top Bschools) If you crack GMAT & get into such B schools, it will be a value addition to batchmates of your school but the profile you are likely to get will be one of the finest, provided, u capitalize on your work-ex, your academics & extra achievements as a social responsible person. I will suggest you to never ever mind of your age because Business learning is a continuous process & age, GMAT or nationality should not affect your desire to learn. It is attitude of your will fetch you more.
Wishing you Good luck!!

Welcome to the beatthegmat community, veritableMBA
Glad you liked this place!
We have however forum specifically [urlhttps://www.beatthegmat.com/business-school-in-general-f22.html]meant for b-school[/url]s.
You can evaluate your profile by one of resident MBA admission experts.
I agree with Nitin, althogh I can't comment on your candidacy with limited information about yourself; I dont think your age would be a barrier in the process.

Yes, as said already, your age does not need to be a factor necessarily, particularly at 30 which is not far from the median range of many programs as you mention. The big question from the admissions committee will be, why NOW...after your slightly-more extensive experience, why have you decided an MBA is right for your career at this point in time.
