Are you sure the answer is E on the first Q.

1) Not suff - don't know anything about the other club
2) Not suff - ditto

But together we know the exact total of the males and the exact total of the two clubs combines, so TOGETHER they are SUFF

Disclaimer: Exept if there is crossover between the two clubs. Then E would be correct...so please comment on this

Second Q:

1) Not suff - we know nothing of the slope
2) Not suff - we know nothing of any of the intercepts, so cannot solve

Together - Not Suff as you are able to create a line that can go through the circle (y=-1/10x + 0.7) and create a line that does not (y=-1/10x + 1000).

Answer is E for the first question.
How can we be so sure about overlapping(students) in this case...

The answer would have been C otherwise. To be honest, I don't like that question, as they do not mention that the clubs are independent. Maybe if they stated that is WAS independent, the answer would have been C
