Hi All,
We're asked for the value of 25*8÷50÷2. This question involves rules called "Order of Operations", but as long as you know those rules, the work here isn't too difficult.
In Order of Operations, both multiplication and division are on the same 'level' (meaning that you do those math 'steps' from left-to-right through a given calculation (assuming there is nothing higher in the order to deal with - such as parentheses or exponents). Since this calculation involves only multiplication and division, we start at the beginning and work across...
(25)(8) = 200.... 200/50 = 4.... 4/2 = 2
Final Answer: A

$$?\,\,\, = \,\,\,25 \cdot 8 \div 50 \div 2\,\,\, = \,\,\,\left[ {\left( {25 \cdot 8} \right) \div 50} \right] \div 2\,\,\,\mathop = \limits^{\left( * \right)} \,\,\,4 \div 2\,\,\, = \,\,\,2$$BTGmoderatorDC wrote:What is the value of 25*8÷50÷2

$$\left( * \right)\,\,25 \cdot 8 = 25 \cdot 2 \cdot 4 = 50 \cdot 4$$
This solution follows the notations and rationale taught in the GMATH method.

Fabio.

Recall that when an arithmetic problem consists only of the operations of multiplication and division, the operations are carried out from left to right. In other words, the first activity in this problem will be multiplication by 8, then division of that product by 50, and then division of that quotient by 2.BTGmoderatorDC wrote:What is the value of 25*8÷50÷2

First we multiply 25 x 8:
25 x 8 = 200
Now we have:
200 ÷ 50 ÷ 2
Next we divide 200 by 50:
200 ÷ 50 = 4
Now we have:
4 ÷ 2 = 2
