With teenage-smoking on the rise, many companies have introduced e-cigarettes aimed at helping teenagers quit smoking. An e-cigarette simulates the feeling of smoking without all the harmful effects of nicotine. But the teenagers addicted to the nicotine in cigarettes are unlikely to switch to e-cigarettes.
Therefore, the sales of e-cigarettes are not expected to meet the high industry estimates.

Which of the following is an assumption on which the argument depends?

A A significant number of smokers well past their teenage will not take to the nicotine-less experience offered by e-cigarettes.

B It is necessary for the smokers to be able to experience the feel of smoking even when they are trying to quit smoking.

C With people not switching to e-cigarettes, it is highly unlikely that there will be any decrease in the numbers of smokers.

D Teenage-smoking is a major concern that is being addressed by companies under their Corporate Social Responsibility agenda.

E Nicotine addiction makes it nearly impossible for some adult smokers to switch from real cigarettes to nicotine-less ones.

This statement below is to be highly considered when answering this question...

The nicotine in real cigarette is an addiction for the teenagers while smoking , therefore the sales of e-cigarette are not expected to meet the high industry estimate.

Option A;- correct Option
This gives an exact statement on what the question entails. Most teenagers will not take the e- cigarette thus industry expectation dwindles.

Option B;- incorrect Option
Yes, perhaps it might be necessary but does not point to the assumption that the argument depends.

Option C;- incorrect Option
Note that this option looks tricky . This targeted set of persons here are not People in general but Teenagers so it must be clearly stated and this is why option A will be chosen over this option.

Option D;- incorrect Option
Yes, it is a major concern being addressed but this option does not stipulate what has been done about it. Like introducing the nicotine less cigarette. So this option is not enough and insufficient to back the assumption.

Option E;- incorrect Option
Point of emphasis is on Adult smokers and it is not in line with the statement of the question. Teenagers and not Adult smokers is what the question talks about and for an option to be valid it has to state out the subject.
