If x = 1- 3t and y = 2t - 1, then for what value of t does x = y?

(A) 5/2
(B) 3/2
(C) 2/3
(D) 2/5
(E) 0

OA: D

Anyone, please share the solution to this problem. Thanks!

We have to find out the value of t when x = y, so equate x and y and get the value of t.

We have x = 1 - 3t and y = 2t - 1

Thus @x = y, we have 1 - 3t = 2t - 1.

5t = 2
t = 2/5.

The correct answer: D

Hope this helps!

We are given x = 1 - 3t and y = 2t - 1, and we need to determine the value for t when x = y. We should notice that both x and y are already in terms of t. Thus, we can substitute (1 - 3t) for x and (2t - 1) for y in the equation x = y. This gives us:

1 - 3t = 2t - 1

2 = 5t

2/5 = t

GIVEN:
x = 1- 3t
y = 2t - 1

We want x = y
Substitute to get: 1- 3t = 2t - 1
Add 3t to both sides: 1 = 5t - 1
Add 1 to both sides: 2 = 5t
Divide both sides by 5 to get: 2/5 = t

Answer: D
