An automobile's gasoline millage varies, depending on the speed of the automobile, between 18.0 and 22.4 miles per gallon, inclusive. What is the maximum distance, in miles, that the automobile could be driven on 15 gallons of gasoline?

(A) 336
(B) 320
(C) 303
(D) 284
(E) 270

The OA is A.

Experts, I need to determine the distance assuming that the automobile covers 22.4 miles per gallon, right? Then,

The maximum distance will be, 22.4*15 = 336 miles. Option A. Thanks!

Correct! The car will be able to drive the greatest distance if it gets the greatest number of miles per gallon - in other words, if it has the greatest gas mileage. So the car will be able to drive the greatest distance if it drives consistently at 22.4 miles/gallon.
$$\frac{22.4\ miles}{1\ gallon}\cdot15\ gallons\ =336\ miles$$
