mckinsey consulting

by andy9923 » Sun Sep 14, 2008 4:50 pm
Hi all,

I came across a McKinsey job posting forwarded to me just now for fresh college graduates. According to the post, they have this general theme of hiring advanced professional degree (APD) holders. However, they specifically list that they are looking for talented APD, non-MBA holders. Why is that? Anyone who knows more about McKinsey or the consulting industry in general care to shed some light on this? Thank you much

McK (and other top consulting firms) is known to hire non-MBA candidates, particular MDs, JDs, Ph.Ds for their respective Healthcare, Law, Science practices, for their insight and expertise into a particular industry.

For example, I know McK recruiters hard for MDs at top medical schools to fill positions within their biotech/med device practice.
