Currently, I am a student pursuing my final year of Engineering in National Institute of Technology, Surat in India. I shall be graduating in 2017.
Basic academic details are: 1) current percentage is 73%, which is distinction. I scored 95% in 10th and 12th grade both.
Apart from this, I have a very strong extra-curricular background.
I was the head boy in school, apart from being the editor of school magazine. I have won a National Award, awarded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, for Creative Writing. Apart from this, I have other National level certificates for Debating and Quizzing. I've also worked with the local radio station during my school days.
In college, I am currently the chief editor of campus publications, and a member of the literary and debating society. Apart from this, I've worked for 1.5 years with the international student body AIESEC, serving a full 1 year term as the city chapter's Vice President.
In Social Work, I am currently working with an NGO, as its content head, which is aimed at social and political awareness. Apart from this, I work with the local children creative development center, as a mentor for creative writing workshops. I've been a mentor for the same at a regional level too.
I've undertaken 3 internships so far: One as a marketing intern, one as a business development intern, and one in an education consultancy firm.
My target colleges are the early entry programs of Harvard and Stanford, and certain Masters in Management programs. I am preparing to give my GMAT again in the near future. Is there any specific area I need to work upon and what are my current chances to get into any of the top 10 colleges?

Hey there!
Good to hear from you.
so your profile seems pretty interesting, and MiM programs could be right for you. HBS 2+2 and Stanford deferred are of course fantastic, but they are extremely difficult to get into! So have other schools on your list to.
With a GMAT of 740+ you will be in the game.
Best,
JF

Thanks a lot for your advice Jon!
Since I am taking the GMAT again, and I will try and improve my score to 750+, will it affect my chances if my first attempt score was 660?
Also, which program suits my profile better? Will I be better suited to take some work experience and then apply through deferred or should I head straight for MiM?
Regards,
Darshil

Hey there,
Good luck! And it's totally fine if you get your target score on a retake. Don't worry about it!!
As for MiM vs MBA it's a touch question. The major advantage to an MiM is that it gives you a headstart and allows you to move abroad early in your career (which is presumably what you want). The major advantage of the full-time MBA is that after some years experience, you have a greater understanding of work and professional life and can better apply your knowledge.
Another option might be to do a more "Technical" masters (say finance, or economics, or engineering or whatever) abroad, work there, and then after three-four years pursue an MBA.

Jon
