I am excited to advise I've been accepted to Columbia for August 2015 entry. I think it's an awesome program. However, I applied in round 2 and thus have not heard yet from any other schools. How do I keep my spot at Columbia while waiting to hear from other schools? I'm assuming I have to pay the first non-refundable deposit and just wait?

Any advice is appreciated.

Awesome! Congrats!

And your assumption is 100% correct! You gotta show them the money. And if you decide to go elsewhere, you don't get to get it back...

but let's put it this way.. if you got into Columbia, I'm assuming your option B is even a better choice, so life aint too bad anyhow! :)

Best,
JF

Thank you for the quick reply. So I believe the only course of action is to accept the spot at Columbia and make the first payment. Any other advice?

Well, you can always try to ask for an extension. It works sometimes. And it's not that they will retract your offer because they know you are looking at other schools. They might say no, but can't hurt to try,
