I'm planning on applying for fall 2013 and am not sure what my chances are for stern. Please evaluate!

My profile:
GMAT- 710 (Q49 V40)
GPA - 3.61 from Fordham University
BA in Math/Econ
BA in Spanish Language & Literature
24, white female
Will have 2 years work experience - Internal Audit at JPMC

Should I apply? Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Hi helpme1288!

The basics of your profile look solid, and your double major is definitely distinctive. Your GMAT score is balanced and your GPA is great. Just looking at these elements, you're certainly qualified for NYU or any top MBA program.

The best part with Langone - besides its flexibility, and the fact that it's Stern - great community!! - is that it's (relatively) easier to get in. There are fewer applicants trying and based on the multiple intakes, it's somewhat less competitive.

You have a little bit less work experience than the standard at NYU but you're not out of range for them - it will be up to you to demonstrate how you're ready for bschool and why now is the right time.

The essays of course are what it all comes down to. The essays matter a lot at any school, and that's also true for Langone. Make sure you take the time with them! (We're guessing you'll do fine - you obviously take this stuff seriously, based on your current track record!) The career goals and why you want to do the P/T program are pretty important, as is the infamous Stern essay 3 ("personal expression"). Take time to reflect, and plan on doing lots of revisions!!
