Young Entrepreneur Top MBA Chances

by akachur » Tue Nov 20, 2012 6:17 am
I'm a fairly unusual MBA applicant, so if anyone could give me some feedback that would be great!

20 year old female who immigrated to the US when I was 5
3.8 GPA at a large public university in the south with a well ranked business school
Economics major, Stat minor
Graduating in 3 years instead of 4

GMAT: 680 total, 43Q 41V, 4.5 AWA, 7 IR
Work Experience:
Co-founded 2 tech companies in the past 3 years
Current venture just received VC funding and is in a large incubator in Silicon Valley
Also interned as a Business Analyst for S&P

What do you think my chances are for Harvard 2+2, Stanford GSB, Duke Fuqua, UVA Darden, and Vanderbilt Owen? I feel that I can write pretty compelling essays about why I'd like to pursue my MBA now. Thanks!!

Hi akachur,

Thanks for posting. Regarding your application, I recommend you read this case study of a young candidate who was accepted into Harvard: https://www.stacyblackman.com/2011/07/14 ... applicant/

It looks like you wil be able to create a very compelling story from your experiences as a startup founder. One thing to consider is that your GMAT score is below the averages of the schools you are considering. With the GMAT, your highest score is self-reported on your application, This means that admissions teams will only focus on your best score, which is why we recommend that if you believe you can improve your score by 30+ points, it can be beneficial to take the test again.

If you'd like, we provide free 30 minute phone consultations here: https://www.stacyblackman.com/contact/

We also have school specific advice for Harvard and Stanford here:

Harvard: https://www.stacyblackman.com/business-s ... ss-school/
Stanford: https://www.stacyblackman.com/business-s ... -business/

Cheers,

Conrad and the Stacy Blackman Team
