Its a simple question of exponents but i am not sure if the forum allows to discuss real GMAT questions due to copy right issues.

i would request faculty to clarify this.

Also, is the score of 43 for quantitative consider average?
The quantitative score mean is near 36, so your score is fine. It's supposed that you should not reveal real GMAT questions.
