We generally use the infinitive form of the verb if we have two (or more) verbs back-to-back.mynhauzen wrote:what is the difference? When do I need to use infinitive instead of ...ing?
For example:
I want to eat candy.
Our first verb is "want", so "to eat" should be in infinitive form.
On the GMAT, when faced with a choice between an "ing" verb and another, it's safer to avoid the "ing". For example, "being" appears in a lot of answer choices and is almost NEVER correct. These verbs aren't necessarily gramatically incorrect, it's usually a style choice.
