Folks,

In the event that I encounter a SC question with these 2, which is better?

Named for or Named after. When something is named for/after a famous person/thin. See example below

"The city of Alexandria in Egypt was named after Alexander the Great/The city of Alexandria in Egypt was named for Alexander the Great"

named after is the idiom i guess..
