GPA conversion and admission chances

by ronrh200 » Wed Jan 31, 2007 8:20 am
Hi Stacy,

2 questions, one specific and another general:

1)how do I convert my BA grade (86, from Heberw U in Jerusalem Israel) into GPA?

from online resources I covered there are diff' ways of doing so - for example: in Duke they consider my grade as an A (3.8 GPA) ,while in a general conversion table it is considered as 3.1 GPA.
the difference between a GPA of 3.1 and 3.8 is the diff' between being accepted and not.

2)my GMAT score is 690 (91%) Q 48 V 36, I am an Israeli airforce pilot (finished flight academy with exellence), I served in two command positions in operational squadrons. when applying I will be 34 years old.
I aim at a top 20 MBA program

what are my chances as an applicant, given the above data and my older than average age?

thanks

cheers

Ron

Based on what you have told me, there is no reason why you should not be able to do well with a top 20 school. The airforce experience should have good leadership examples.

For grade conversion, I now feel that you need to contact each of your schools and find out what their method is. Each school has a different answer - there really is no one approach.
