Visit B-schools before applying

by JimmyQ » Mon May 31, 2010 2:23 am
I am currently in the process of applying for MBA programmes, starting fall 2011. I live in Europe and have a three US b-schools on my favourite list. I have done extensive research on the web for the three programmes I am interested in, read blogs and forums and spoken to alumni students.

I am travelling to the US this summer, and while I am there I would like to visit the three b-schools of my choice. What I am interested in is a guided tour of the school, a sit-down with an adcom member or professor to ask questions and hear more about the MBA program.

Do you guys know if this is possible to arrange? And what else would you recommend me to do to get to know the school and the program before applying?

Thanks,

Yes, schools allow for campus visits with various activities. Usually you can:

Sit on a class
Talk with Adcom
Lunch with current students
tour of the b-school

Look at the websites for each of the schools you are interested in and you should find something about a campus visit. Which 3 schools are you interested in visiting?

Jimmyq - which three schools are you interested in?
My goal is to make MBA applicants take onus over their process.

I am interested in Standford, Haas Berkley and UCLA (in that order) as they are close to Silicon Valley and the venture capital cluster.

Also, the weather in California is not too bad either..:-)

These give more information for visiting each of the schools you listed.
