I am Data Architect trying to apply to Wharton and NYU EMBA programs. I have a 750 GMAT score and about 10 years of experience.

Becasue of the technical nature of my role - I have generally not been a manager even though I have led projects and teams for most of my career.

Do you have to have a Manager on your title to get in the EMBA programs. I know they are geared to older executives but I believe I fall in the same category. I have the same salary or better than most of middle management - I have great career which I want to keep at while I pursue EMBA. I also have a lot to contribute becasue of my unique insight into decision support systems. Is that not enough for an admission?

Any answers are appreciated. Thanks a lot for your time.

Hi Nilay

We have these common misconceptionss related to emba....sabbaticals from work...some think of it as only part time...some as online..whereas there is no delineation of the "Executive" nature of the program.

EMBA is for people with more than 5 years of experience with "mature goals". Thats it. People who have managed a team, flock, resources are totally welcome and apart from the mid-level executives form the variant population applying for emba. The designation is irrelevant.

Delivery style, as you may know,is step lock.

Take my word, you are cut out for EMBA, though you need to ace the application for the schools you mentioned.

Best of Luck.

With 10 years of work, and given your (likely) age an EMBA is the right program for you.

BTW, sweet GMAT score! Very nice.
