Modulus DS Prob

What is the value of |x+7|?

1. |x+3| = 14
2. (x+2)^2 = 169

Well the ans is D.
But can anyone please explain what is wrong with C

agree with C. Statement 2) on its own is clearly not sufficient...

I agree it should be C.

1. x could be either 11 or -17 INSUFFICIENT
2. x could be either 11 or -15 INSUFFICIENT

Combine both together so that x = 11 and you have your answer.

Must be C.

Where did this come from?

Well i had some test set that i was going through.
I was not convinced with the answer as D.
