Hello all

I am currently employed as a mechanical engineer and am planning to pursue a part time MBA to enhance my career. Given that I hardly see any tech companies in the top 10 B school hiring list, I was wondering, if you folks knew of any tech companies that hire from Kellogg/Booth/Carlson? I am not considering Ross as it is not financially viable for me to travel to Detroit every weekend. Thanks for the help and looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards
MI

Hi MI -- it depends on what you mean by "tech company."

Google is a big recruiter out of most all the top programs.

But, you said you want the MBA to "enhance" your career - and you're a mechanical engineer. The Kellogg MMM track - joint program with McCormick School - would probably be the best bet for you in the local area if you're planning to stay with that. United Airlines hires from Booth - no idea for what roles though, it's unlikely they're coming there looking for engineers right?

If you're looking to transition to software technology then you'd have a lot more options -- and if you're interested in transitioning to consulting of some flavor or form, then possibly even more (though you probably know that these are some of the most competitive post-MBA fields so it's not necessarily an easy switch to pull off - particularly not from a part-time program).

Unsure if this is helpful; we probably don't have quite enough to go on from your own interests to do justice to your question. If you want to write back with more details on your goals and plans with the MBA then we might be able to add more.
