doesnt the raise during the last fiscal year act as an alternative reason for the increase in profits

This question seems interesting, since the answer choice provides a counter evidence that seems to take the question premise head on .
Yes we need to take the premise as the ultimate truth, but we cannot deny a counter-premise which eventually weakens the statement.
